How to plan and buy a business website in 2027: a practical guide
Published 27 October 2026
Whether you run a shop, a clinic, a restaurant or a service business, the questions before you build a website are the same. What should it do? What goes on it? Who owns it? What will it cost, now and later? This guide takes you through them in order, so you can brief a studio clearly and compare quotes fairly.
KAMSS DIGITAL SOLUTIONS (KDS) is a web design studio based in India that works with businesses worldwide. Where we mention our own packages, the figures are the ones on our pricing page.
1. Decide what the website must do
Pick the one or two jobs that matter most, then design around them. Typical jobs are:
- Let people find you and contact you.
- Show what you offer: services, a menu, products or a gallery.
- Take enquiries or booking requests.
- Sell online.
A site that does one job well is better than one that tries to do everything. Write your jobs down in one sentence each before you talk to any studio.
2. Plan the content before the design
Missing content can hold up a build as much as design does. Gather these before the build starts:
- Your logo, and photos you have the right to use.
- A short description of your business and what you offer.
- Contact details, opening hours and your location.
- Prices or a price range, if you want to show them.
If you do not have good photos, say so early. It is easier to plan around than to discover halfway through.
3. Check it on a phone
Open any sample site a studio shows you on your own phone. Is the text easy to read? Can you tap the buttons? Does it load quickly on your connection? Ask to review your own site on a phone before it launches, not only on a computer.
4. Make it easy to enquire
Decide how you want customers to reach you and put that route where they will see it: a WhatsApp button, a phone number, an enquiry form that emails you, or a map link. Then test it yourself before launch. A contact route that does not work is easy to miss.
5. Know who owns what
Ask these questions in writing before you pay:
- Will the domain name be registered in your name?
- Do you get the files and the logins when the project ends?
- Who pays for the domain, hosting and any paid tools, and how often?
Domain names and paid third-party services are extra unless your quote says they are included.
6. Ask what it costs after launch
The build price is not the only cost. Ask what renews each year, such as a domain, and what changes after launch cost you. Ask how long you will need to wait for an update.
7. What our packages include
Our published prices are shown in US dollars with the rupee price underneath.

How a KDS project runs
- Chat. Tell us what you sell and what the site must do.
- Quote. You get a fixed figure in writing.
- Advance. 50% up front to start, balance on launch.
- Build and review. You see it before it goes live.
- Launch. The site goes live on your domain.
Delivery dates are agreed per project, in your quote. Cancellations and refunds are covered in our refund policy.
No one can promise a place in Google’s results for any website, and we do not.
Talk to us
Tell us what your business does and what the website needs to do, and we will tell you honestly which package fits, or whether you need a website at all. You can reach us from the contact page.
